Madikeri’s A. Augustin with 8.5 points from nine rounds clinched the title in the Nalawadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Inter-District Open Rapid Chess Tournament conducted by Samyuktha Kreeda Sangha at Manasagangothri here yesterday.
Rakesh of Mandya with 8 points finished second while K. Ravikumar of Hassan with 7.5 points secured the third place. A total of 253 players from Mysuru, Hassan, Mandya, Madikeri, Kalaburagi and Bengaluru took part in the tournament. Prizes were given in U-7, U-9, U-11, U-13 (boys & girls) sections. A total cash prize of Rs.30,000 was in stake for the winners in the tournament.
