Mysuru: The 134th birth anniversary of the visionary ruler Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar was celebrated in different parts of the city today with the District Administration led by Additional Deputy Commissioner T. Yogesh offering floral tributes to the statue of Nalwadi at K.R. Circle, here this morning. Speaking after offering floral tributes, Yogesh said that Mysuru was fortunate to have a ruler like Nalwadi whose contributions to the city and the State is immeasurable.
“It is a matter of pride that we had a development-oriented, progressive ruler who was instrumental in setting up industries, educational institutions and encouraged art and culture, in his nearly forty years rule,” he said.
Recalling his contributions, Yogesh said, “Nalwadi put Mysuru on the international map. His most noteworthy feature was that he never discriminated against any caste or religion and fought for the cause of women, backward classes and minorities.”
Kannada and Culture Department Assistant Director H.Chennappa, Central Library Deputy Director Manjunath, Zone 5 Assistant Commissioner Nagaraj, Litterateur Bannur K. Raju and others were present.

At Palace: The scion of the royal family Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar after offering floral tributes to the bust of Nalwadi inside the Mysore Palace premises said, “Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar has always been my role model. Even today wherever I go people recall his contributions to the State fondly. He always gave equal respect to all religions and his only interest was the progress of the State. He gave an administration which became a role model for every government in the country even to this day.” Mysore Palace Board Deputy Director T.S. Subramanya, Karnataka Rajya Arasu Sangha President Suganda Raj Urs, Arasu Mahasabha President Nandeesh Urs, Secretary T.K. Subramanya Raj Urs and others were present.
Former MLA M.K. Somashekar offered floral tributes at a function at Arasu Mandali on Tyagaraja Road. Mandali President Kemparaj Urs, Vice President Lingaraj Urs, Secretary Kiran G.S. Urs were present.
Arasu Mandali Sangha took out a procession from Ashokapuram which passed through Ambedkar Road, Ramaswamy Circle, JLB Road and reached K.R. Circle.
