Mysore/Mysuru: As part of ‘Namma Pride and Queer Fest’ celebrated by LGBTQ community every year, a procession has been organised on Mar.19 at 2.30 pm, from Government Guest House to Jaganmohan Palace in the city.
President of Seven Rainbows Pranati Prakash told media persons at Patrakarthara Bhavana here yesterday that ‘the fest is celebrated every year demanding the implementation of the Supreme Court order in the case of Navtej Singh Johar and others versus Union of India and create awareness on gender and sex at all public services like Police Stations, Hospitals, Government Offices, Schools-Colleges, Banks and others.’
As per Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, the laws related to employment and disparity should be implemented with zero tolerance and a firm system of compensation, education on self-identification of sexuality, at all levels of the State, demanded Pranati Prakash explaining the purpose behind organising the fest.
