Nanjangud and Gundlupet Assembly By-Polls: Special Poll Observer meets Police Officers

In view of April 9 Nanjangud and Gundlupet by-polls, the Special Poll Observer for both the constituencies, Karuna Raju held a closed-door meeting with Police Officers at the DySP’s office on Ooty road here this morning.

Addressing the meeting, Karuna Raju directed the Police to give no scope for any electoral malpractices and to ensure a free and fair poll.

He also warned of action against Policemen who were found negligent in discharging of their assigned duties.

IGP (Southern Range) Vipul Kumar, Mysuru Deputy Commissioner and District Electoral Officer D. Randeep, SP Ravi D. Channannavar, Additional SP Kala Krishnaswamy, Assistant SP Mohammad Sujitha, Chamarajanagar SP Kuldeep Kumar Jain, Central Poll Observers Pankaj and Amar Jyothi Mazumdar, Nanjangud by-poll Returning Officer G. Jagadeesha were among those who attended the meeting.

Mustering of Polling Officers on Apr. 8: The mustering of the Polling Officers, appointed for the Nanjangud Assembly by-elections to be held on Apr. 9, will be held at JSS College, Devirammanahalli on Ooty Road, on Apr. 8.

District Electoral Officer has, in a press release, urged all the Polling Officers to be present for the election duty compulsorily. Action would be initiated under Section 134 of Representation of Peoples Act against those Officers who fail to attend the duty.
