Nanjangud; The famed Srikanteshwara Temple in the temple town of Nanjangud in the district, popularly known as ‘Dakshina Kashi’, has recorded a hundi collection of Rs. 93.65 lakh in the first quarter of the year.
The counting of the temple hundis was taken up on Friday, during which Rs. 93,65,401 in cash, 155-gram of gold jewellery, 4-kg of silver articles, 9 foreign currencies, three Rs.1,000 notes and 22 notes of Rs. 500 of banned Indian currency, were found.
Fifteen employees of Canara Bank and over 100 women members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) took part in the counting.
Assistant Commissioner Venkataraju, Canara Bank Manager Yeshwanth, Temple AEO Venkatesh Prasad, Accountant Gurumallaiah and others were present.
