Mysore/Mysuru: As part of Nartana Namana, Ganabharathi in association with Vidu. Nandini Eswer’s Raasavrunda and in memory of Smt. Saraswathamma Ramashastry, will present a unique lyrical poetry of Kalidasa’s Meghadootam on Feb.26 at 6.30 pm at Veene Seshanna Bhavan in Kuvempunagar.

Meghadootam is a lyrical poem of 120 stanzas written by Kalidasa. It recounts how a Yaksha, a subject of King Kubera (the God of Wealth), after being exiled for a year for neglecting his duties, convinces a passing cloud to take a message to his wife Alaka  on Mount Kailash  in the Himalayan Mountains.

The work is divided into two parts, Purva-megha and Uttara-megha.

The Yaksha accomplishes   this by describing the many beautiful sights the cloud will see on its northward course to the city of Alaka where his wife awaits his return.

Dance Concept and Mentoring is by Vidu. Nandini Eswer, Dance Choreography and Direction by Dr. Rohitha Eswer, Compering by Vidu. Shantala Vattam and the performing artistes are: Chinmayee Bharadwaj and Dr. Rohitha Eswer.
