“For many in the end-stage organ diseases, organ transplantation is the most preferred treatment. The need for organ transplantation is higher than the availability. Hence, Apollo BGS Hospitals, Mysuru, has come forward to create awareness regarding organ donation,” said Dr. V. Yashavanth Kumar, Consultant Hepato Biliary & Liver Transplant Surgeon, Apollo BGS Hospitals, Mysuru.
“Right now, more than 1,00,000 people in India need a multiorgan transplant and every year, around 1,000 people die waiting to find an organ donor. The need for donors has never been greater. Organ transplantation is one of the most miraculous achievements of modern Medical Science. But, it depends entirely on the generosity of donors and their families who are willing to make this life-saving gift to others” said Dr. Rajkumar P. Wadhwa, Chief Gastroenterologist & Head of Institute of Gastroenterology, Apollo BGS Hospitals, Mysuru.
“Thousands of people die every year with end stage organ failure. The only way they can have a new lease of life is by having an organ transplant. One donor can give life to a minimum of 8 people. There is a critical shortage of organs and the gap between the number of organs donated and the number of patients waiting for a transplant is increasing,” said Dr. Srinivas Nalloor, Chief Nephrologist and Head, Department of Nephrology, Apollo BGS Hospitals, Mysuru.
