St. Philomena’s College, Mysuru, has organised National Science Day celebrations on Feb. 28 at the College UG Auditorium in Bannimantap at 11.30 am. Prof. Arun M. Umarji, a Senior Scientist from the prestigious Indian Institute of Science (IISc.), Bengaluru, will be the chief guest. He will speak on the theme of this year “Indigenous Technologies for Viksit Bharat.”
The event will be attended by Rev. Dr. Bernard Prakash Barnis, Rector of St. Philomena’s Institutions among others. The celebrations will be presided over by College Principal Dr. Ravi J.D. Saldanha. National Science Day is commemorated annually on Feb. 28 marking the discovery of Raman Effect by Indian Physicist Sir C.V. Raman in 1928, a monumental achievement that earned him the Nobel Prize in Physics.
