‘Natl. Education policy needs new methods of teaching’

Mysore/Mysuru: Maintaining that we are moving towards a new path in educational sector, University of Mysore, Department of Library and Information Science Head Prof. N.S. Harinayarana said the new National Education Policy (NEP) has opened the floodgates of new opportunities.

He was speaking after inaugurating a UGC sponsored State-level Orientation workshop for teaching faculty at JSS Arts, Commerce and Science College on Ooty Road here on Friday.

Pointing out that we should look at new teaching methods for realising the concepts of NEP, Prof. Harinarayan observed that the country’s progress is dependent on higher education. Noting that the Governments and Educational Institutions are striving for reaching optimum level of higher education, he said that the responsibility of sustaining our rich culture, rests on our teachers.

Earlier, College CEO Prof.  B.V. Sambashivaiah, who delivered the key-note address, said that we are in an era of transformation, with the introduction of NEP. Pointing out that skill and need based education is the need of the hour, he said that such workshops will help our teaching faculty to improve their professionalism.

The workshop featured lecture sessions by subject experts.

College Principal Dr. H.C. Honnappa, IQAC Convenor Dr. N. Ragendra Prasad and Dr. M. Poornima were present.
