Natl. Symposium on ‘Tribal Language, Culture and Education’ at CIIL

The Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL) that governs the Centre of Excellence for Studies in Classical Kannada.

Mysuru:  To mark the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and commemorate Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, the Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysuru, is organising a two-day National Symposium on ‘Tribal Language, Culture and Education’ at its premises on Nov. 18 and 19.

It will be inaugurated at 10.30 am tomorrow in the presence of CIIL former Director Prof. Rajesh Sachdeva as guest of honour. CIIL Director Prof. Shailendra Mohan will preside.

This symposium is dedicated to celebrating the rich and diverse heritage of Indian tribal communities and aims to delve into the intricacies of their languages, cultures and educational practices, thereby highlighting and preserving their unique identities.

There will be 18 scholarly talks at the Symposium, fostering a deeper appreciation of the cultural wealth and resilience of India’s tribal populations. Educational initiatives tailored to tribal communities will also be a focal point, with discussions on enhancing educational opportunities and outcomes for tribal children. This includes exploring innovative teaching methods, integrating tribal knowledge systems into mainstream education and advocating for policies that support the educational advancement of tribal populations.
