Mysore/Mysuru: “To preserve and continue the art of Bharatanatyam, it should be taught to children,” said Melukote Deputy Tahsildar Rajesh.
He was speaking at the 32nd Dance Festival organised by Bharatiya Nritya Kala Parishat in memory of Natyacharya M. Vishnudas, at Ganabharathi Veene Sheshanna Bhavan at Kuvempunagar in city recently.
After conferring Nritya Seva Sindhu 2022 Award on Geetha Narayan, Nritya Kala Sindhu Awards 2022 to Vidu. Geetha Saralaya and Vidu. Varija Nalige, Rajesh said that parents and organisations should reject western arts, culture and encourage their children to learn and practice Indian art, culture and tradition which has earned respect in the world.
Bharatiya Nritya Kala Parishat Hon. Secretary Vidushi Dr. Kumudini Achhi presided.
Vidu. Geetha Saralaya and Vidu. Rashmi Chidanand performed Bharatanatyam. Later, Dance-Drama ‘Sri Krishna Leelamruta’ was presented by Kalarpanam troupe. Parishat office-bearers Vidu. C.N. Anita, Vidu. Bhavana, Vidu. Disha Marigoli and Sushmitha were present.
