Mysore/Mysuru: Strongly condemning the Qatar court order awarding death sentence to eight retired Indian Navy personnel, who are accused of spying, Ex-servicemen of the city, under the banner of Naval Veterans Association, Karnataka (Mysuru Revenue Division) and supported by Akhila Karnataka Maaji Sainikara Sangha (AKMSS), staged a silent march in the city on Nov.4.
Maintaining that the Qatar Government has not shared any information about the nature of the offence, they alleged that the Qatar Government has charged Ex-Indian Navy men of spying for Israel.
Expressing solidarity with the charged Ex-Navy personnel who are in a Qatar prison, the protestors called for their immediate release and be brought back to India.
The silent march which commenced from the Sainik Welfare Bhavan, passed through JLB Road before culminating at Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa Circle (Metropole Circle). The protestors held placards which read ‘We stand with integrity and solidarity, bring back our Naval veterans.’ Veterans from Air Force, Army and civil organisations participated in the march.
Maj. Gen. S.S. Rajan (Retd.), Association President Gajanan Bhat, Secretary R. Rajesh, office-bearers Syed Hydari, Alagaraswamy, Sanjay Prabhu and M.N. Naveen; AKMSS, Kodagu Vice-President Jolly Somanna, AKMSS, Mysuru President P.K. Diwakar, Naval veteran Chandra Kumar and others took part.
