Mysore/Mysuru: As part of NCC Social Service and Community Development (SSCD), World Cancer Day was marked with an impactful awareness rally and lecture was organised by the 3 Kar Girls Battalion NCC in Mysuru, on Feb. 4.
The programme aimed to spread knowledge about cancer, its causes, types, prevention, early detection and treatment, while inspiring the community to take proactive steps against the disease.
The rally, led by 100 enthusiastic NCC Cadets, drew attention across the city and effectively conveyed the importance of cancer awareness. Their spirited participation highlighted the role of youth in promoting health education and social responsibility.
The event was graced by Col. CPS Soemwal, Officer Commanding (OC), 3 Kar Girls Bn NCC, Mysuru, SM, V.K. Mishra, ANO, GCIs and PI staff, who encouraged the Cadets in their mission.
Dr. H.S. Swarna, Senior Medical Officer, Government Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital, Mysuru, delivered an informative lecture, stressing the significance of awareness, lifestyle changes and early detection in reducing cancer risks. She also emphasised the role of NCC Cadets in spreading awareness and supporting patients, urging them to remain active contributors to community health initiatives.
The event successfully combined education and action, empowering participants and the wider community.
The OC, 3 Kar Girls Bn NCC expressed gratitude to Dr. Swarna for her valuable insights and to the Cadets for their dedication, underscoring the NCC’s commitment to vital social causes.
