NCC Mysuru Group Runners-Up in Inter-Group Competitions

Mysuru: National Cadet Corps (NCC), Mysuru Group, has bagged the Runners-Up position in the coveted NCC Directorate Karnataka and Goa Inter-Group Competition during the Republic Day Camp (IGC – RDC) held at Christ University Bengaluru between Nov.1 and Nov. 10.  The first position was secured by the Bangalore B Group.

The IGC-RDC is held every year for selection of Cadets for the prestigious Republic Day Contingent, New Delhi, from the NCC Directorate Karnataka and Goa. A total of 77 Cadets of Mysuru Group participated in various Competitions such as Drill, Flag Area, Group Song, Group Dance, Ballet, National Integration Awareness Programme and Line Area. The Best Cadets were further tested for Firing, General Knowledge and Subjects of the Army, Navy and Air Force. Seven Cadets of the Group secured the first and second position in the Best Cadet Competition.

Cdt. Aryan D. Haritsa (SRKV, Mysuru), Cdt. N.S.Vismitha (Maharani’s College, Mysuru), Cdt. J.P. Aishwarya  (Yuvaraja’s College, Mysuru), Cdt. Monish Aradhya (Sarada Vilas College, Mysuru), Cdt. Vivek R. Venkatesh (Yuvaraja’s College, Mysuru), Cdt. A.H. Arjun Rao (VVET, Mysuru) were first in various categories while Cdt. P. Sahana (Teresian College) secured the second position in the Best Cadet Competition. The NCC Group Mysuru secured the first position in National Integration Awareness Programme, Ballet, Group Dance, Line Area and Flag Area Competitions.

The Cadets were given intensive training at Mysuru during the Pre-IGC camps under the personal supervision of NCC Officers. Col. M.K. Belliappa, Group Commander of Mysuru Group of the NCC, said this is a proud moment for the NCC, Mysuru Group and complimented the team of Officers and Staff for their hard work and dedication in training the Cadets. He said this year a lot of help was forthcoming from the Ex-NCC Cadets of Mysuru Group who went out of the way under the leadership of Pramod to contribute back to the NCC what they said has helped in shaping their own careers.

Col. Belliappa expressed his gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor of Mysore University and the Registrar (Evaluation)  for making special arrangements to conduct Semester exams in case the Cadets missed their exams due to the Training Camps.

He also thanked KSOU Vice- Chancellor and Management of Sri Chamarajendra Ursu Boarding School for sparing their premises for the conduct of the NCC Camps.
