Mysore/Mysuru: The written exam of NDA (National Defence Academy) and CDS (Combined Defence Services) conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) was held today at 4 centres in city.
While CDS exam was held at one centre — Maharaja PU College on JLB Road, the NDA exam was held at 3 centres — Government PU College, Aniketana Road, Kuvempunagar, Government PU College for Girls, People’s Park, Nazarbad and Government Maharani PU College for Girls on N.S. Road.
As many as 435 candidates had registered for CDS exam, while a total of 1,167 candidates for the NDA exam.
CDS exam had three papers — English (9 am to 11 am), General Knowledge (12 noon to 2 pm) and Elementary Mathematics (3 pm to 5 pm). Each paper was for 100 marks.
NDA exam had two papers — Mathematics (10 am to 12.30 pm) and General Ability Test -GAT (2 pm to 4.30 pm). While the Mathematics paper was for 300 marks, the GAT was for 600 marks, totalling 900 marks.
The selection process for NDA and CDS will be in 2 stages — written exam held today, followed by an SSB Test/Interview, for those who qualify in this exam.
The exams were held under tight Police security. The city Police had clamped prohibitory orders in 200 mts. radius around all the 4 exam centres and barring the examinees and exam staff, no unauthorised persons were allowed entry to the centres. Also, all photo copy shops and browsing centres in the vicinity of the exam centres were asked to shut down for the day.
