The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is conducting National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (UG) — which is also termed as NEET — on Sunday, 7th May 2017, for class 12 (II PU) students applying for seats in Medical Colleges in the country.
In the Admit Card issued to the candidates online, CBSE has given eighteen (18) instructions. Instruction No. 12 reads as follows: “No candidate shall be allowed to use toilets in last 30 minutes of examination, that is, from 12.30 pm to 1 pm.”
The candidates are required to be present in the exam centre at 7.30 am on the day of the test to finish various formalities like verification of their identity etc., standing in queue and take-up the exam between 10 am and 1 pm. The students will have to leave their home by 5 am to reach the exam centres which are generally situated in far off places. Therefore, there is no knowing when the bodies of the candidates start urging them to use the wash-room.
While most of the candidates may be able to control for a shorter or longer period, a few of them may not be able to control even for a few minutes. The reasons for such inability to control can be both Physiological and Psychological. It could be juvenile diabetes. It could be the fear of the examination itself.
Therefore, one cannot understand how CBSE ignored those facts of life and have taken upon themselves to prohibit use of bathroom during a particular period, namely between 12.30 pm and 1 pm on the day of the exam.
People’s representatives and educationists, including our Medical fraternity, should advise the CBSE to withdraw such ridiculous instructions.
