Mysuru: Negilayogi Samaja Seva Trust, Vidyavardhaka Educational Institutions and Negilayogi Maruleshwara Seva Balaga together had organised a function on Saturday at a hotel in city to mark Doctors’ Day which featured presentation of ‘Best Doctor Award’ and felicitation to doctors in Public Service and meritorious medical students.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. G.K. Venkatesh, Founder-Director, Institute of Nephro-Urology, opined that the gap between doctors and public was increasing of late which is a demoralising factor for doctor fraternity. He said that after a medical revolution in country, the number of deaths in medical cases have reduced and hence, the expectations from public from doctors would be high.
He regretted that in certain unfortunate incidents, the doctors would be targeted. He expected doctors to keep pace with modern technology for better results.
Doctors R.C. Chetan, C.P. Nimishamba, H. Dileep Kumar and H.M. Manukumar, who have been selected for Public Service, were felicitated on the occasion.
Negilayogi awards were presented to prominent doctors — B.A. Hanumanthu, M. Shivanna, Chandrashekar, Jyoti Umesh, B.N. Ravish, Rajkumar, G. Gopinath and D.T. Jayaramaiah — for their discerning service in various specialisations.
Negilayogi President Dr. K.N. Chandrashekar, retired Director of Kuvempu Institute of Kannada Studies (KIKS) Dr. D.K. Rajendra, Negilayogi Maruleshwara Seva Trust President Dr. Mahadevaiah and others were present during the programme.
