K.R. Nagar: Tourism Minister S.R. Mahesh has said that a hanging bridge will be built across the spectacular Chunchanakatte and Dhanushkoti Falls in K.R. Nagar to attract tourists. Along with a hanging bridge, a 60-ft statue of Lord Hanuman will be set up here.
The Minister was speaking to officials after an inspection of Chunchanakatte Falls yesterday. He said that a hanging bridge will be safe for the tourists to view the falls instead of getting inside the turbulent waters.
Maintaining that Chunchanakatte was among the best places to visit in Karnataka, the Minister said that the Government will develop the waterfall to attract more tourists. He directed Tourism Department Deputy Director H.P. Janardhan to submit a report and the cost estimate on the hanging bridge and Hanuman statue to Tourism Department Director B. Ramu, who accompanied the Minister. Mahesh directed Mysuru DC Abhiram G. Sankar, Assistant Commissioner K. Nitish and Tahsildar Mahesh Chandra to ensure the safety of the tourists, especially those coming from outside, by erecting more warning boards and deploying more Police.
