Sir,
This refers to the news item “Literally Lifted: Multi-storied Srirangapatna Taluk Office lacks lifts, ramps for infirm and disabled” (SOM dated Feb. 22).
I would like to say that it’s the same here in Mysuru New DC’s Office at Siddarthanagar. There are lifts but it is not used. The building is not fully in use and I did not see any desks with phones.
I am 69-years-old and had to walk up the stairs to the second floor and still did not get my job done. I had applied for a ration card over two months ago at KarnatakaOne Centre. I was told I will get the ration card by mail. So I first went to the MCC Office to check where the Food and Civil Supplies Department is located and I was directed to the DC’s Office in city. And there I was directed to the new DC’s Office in Siddarthanagar.
This Office is sparsely occupied and I adventurously roamed the ground floor and then the first floor where I was told the Food Department is on the second floor and lo! there wasn’t a soul who knew anything to be helpful. So after approximately three hours, I returned home disappointed and work not done.
