New Director for SDM-IMD

Mysore/Mysuru: Dr. (Lt. Col.) S.N. Prasad, who was serving as the Deputy Director of Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDM-IMD), Mysuru, for the past two years, has been elevated as the Director of the prestigious B-School.

Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, after his 12-year-long leadership as the Director of SDM-IMD, has handed over charge to Dr. Prasad and will continue as Director-Emeritus at the Institute.

Born in Mysuru, Dr. Prasad is an alumnus of Bhagini Seva Samaja, Sarada Vilas Boys High School and the Junior College and SJCE. After completing BE (Mech) with distinction in 1987, he joined the Indian Army and was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Corps of Electronics & Mechanical Engineering (EME) at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun in 1989.

From 1993, he was an Aeronautical Engineer in the Army Aviation Corps, the helicopter arm of the Indian Army, for 8 years. He took part in the Kargil Operations in 1999 at Kargil and later served in the Siachen Glacier Sector for a year to earn his command reports. He was awarded the Chief of Army Staff Commendation Medal in 2002 for an innovation on Snow Mobiles that saved lives on the Siachen Glacier. He has led Army units in the desert, counter insurgency, field and high-altitude locations.

On the academic front, he completed ME (Automobile Engineering) from the University of Pune in 1998, PGDM from SIBM, Pune, in 2006. As a Senior Instructor at the Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT), Deemed University (under MoD), Pune, from 2005-09, he was the programme in-charge of the Technical Staff Course of Army (M.Sc.-Military Technology). In 2009, he opted for voluntary retirement from the Army, returned to Mysuru and joined SDM-IMD as a faculty member.

He was awarded Ph.D from VTU, Belagavi, in 2018 in the area of Technical Training using Simulators.

He is married to Dr. M.A. Jyothi, a Karnatak vocalist and violinist in Mysuru.
