Mysore/Mysuru: A new enclosure for Orangutans built at Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens (Mysuru Zoo) at a cost of Rs. 99.2 lakh was inaugurated on Friday.
Bank Note Paper Mill India Private Limited (BNPM), Mysuru sponsored the works under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Funds. Following the inauguration, Orangutans were also released for public viewing.
In the first stage, enclosure along with play area had been built for a pair of Orangutan. The Zoo has a total of four Orangutans that were released for viewing in separate timings. The second stage of enclosure has been built next to the existing enclosure.
Senior General Manager of Bank Note Paper Mill India Private Limited (BNPM) K. Dharani Kumar, Senior General Manager Ananta Hegde, Senior General Manager (HR) Abhay Kumar, Member-Secretary of Zoo Authority of Karnataka B.P. Ravi and Zoo Executive Director D. Mahesh Kumar were present.
