Bengaluru: Congress Parliamentary leader in the Lok Sabha Mallikarjuna Kharge has said that a new KPCC President will be appointed in two weeks.
In his first public statement on party matters in recent times, Kharge said the new KPCC President to replace Dr. G. Parameshwara will be announced shortly. AICC President Sonia Gandhi has discussed the matter with AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi and the new appointee will be the one who has strong organisational skills, he said.
Meanwhile, activities have gained momentum in the Congress after K.C. Venugopal was appointed as the new party in -charge of Karnataka recently.
Although several leaders such as D. K. Shivakumar, M.B. Patil, S.R. Patil, K.H. Muniyappa and Appaji Nadagouda had started lobbying for the post since the past couple of months, the AICC leadership was silent on the issue.
But the appointment of Venugopal as the new party in-charge of Karnataka in place of Digvijay Singh has stirred a flurry of activities in the Congress, which is gearing up for the 2018 Assembly Polls.
