Kumuda Girish, Deputy Director (DD) of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department has clarified that no deadline has been issued for the domestic LPG consumers to get their e-KYC (Know Your Consumer) done at their respective agencies.
A rumour stating that domestic consumers will be deemed as commercial consumers or their LPG connection will be cut, if they fail to get their e-KYC done for their consumer ID at gas agencies before Dec. 31 and also provide their bank account details to obtain the subsidy amount, has created a confusion among consumers. But the domestic consumers should not lend ears to such rumours, as neither the Central Government nor gas agencies have fixed any deadline. E-KYC is a continuous process and those beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and subsidy scheme can get it done on priority for free without paying any charges.
Unaware of the rumour, many LPG consumers were seen waiting in queues outside the respective agencies to get their e-KYC done, for the fear of losing LPG connection, on Saturday.
