Mysore/Mysuru: For the record, Mysuru, a city’s economy that is driven by tourism, received only 7.08 lakh tourists flow in 2020-21 (April 2020 and March 31, 2021) when compared to 2019-2020 where 36.28 lakh tourists descended on the city. On an average, Mysuru gets 35 lakh to 37 lakh tourists every year.
Mysore Palace Board Deputy Director T.S. Subramanya told Star of Mysore that “All the bio-safety measures are in place and enough precautions have been taken like sanitisation and COVID-appropriate behaviour even if there are more than 10,000 visitors per day as in pre-pandemic days,”
Added attractions at the Palace are illumination on Sundays and public holidays and the sound-and-light show. However, the State Government has not permitted these activities.
“Owing to hundreds of people gathering at the Palace to witness the illumination and the sound-and-light show, we have not got permission. Will notify in advance if we get a nod,” Subramanya added.
