No Suttur Jatra Mahotsava in 2021

Mysore/Mysuru: Suttur Jatra Mahotsava, which is held every year from auspicious Pushya Bahula Dwadashi to Magha Shuddha Tadige, supposed to be held from February 8, 2021 to February 13, 2021 at Suttur Srikshetra in Nanjangud taluk, has been cancelled owing to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.

All programmes being held every year, as part of Annual Jatra Mahotsava of Adi Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji, popularly known as Suttur Jatra, including Rathotsava, Theppotsava, Kondotsava, Prabhat Pheri, Laksha Deepotsava, Jangamotsava, Gurubrahmotsava, Krishi Mela, Doni Vihara, Desi Games, Kusti, Cultural and Religious Programmes, Agricultural Fair and Expo, Bhajana Mela, Mass Marriage, Cattle Fair, Drawing Competitions, Chitra Sante, Quiz, Rangoli, Sobane and Kite Flying Contests, Theatre Activities and Maha Dasoha have been cancelled this time.

But rituals and religious events will be held as usual on Pushya Bahula Trayodashi (Feb. 9) according to the tradition. Special Pujas including taking Utsava Murthy from Srimutt to Karthru Gadduge, offering puja to Someshwara, Mahadeshwara, Veerabhadreshwara, Narayanaswamy and other idols will also be held. Rathotsava, Theppotsava and other such activities will be held according to the tradition but in a simple and symbolic manner. All rituals and ceremonies will be telecasted online for the benefit of devotees.
