Mysore/Mysuru: The nomination papers of 22 candidates in the district have been rejected by the authorities for not being in order.
As many as 194 candidates had filed a total of 276 nomination papers for 11 Assembly segments of the district. During the scrutiny of nomination papers held yesterday, as many as 47 sets of nomination papers filed by 22 candidates were rejected, while the nomination papers of the rest of 172 candidates were found to be in order.
The 172 candidates whose nomination are found to be in order include 25 candidates in Varuna Assembly segment, 21 in NR, 18 in KR, 16 in Chamaraja, 15 each in Chamundeshwari and T. Narasipur, 14 in Hunsur, 13 in K.R. Nagar, 12 each in Nanjangud and H.D. Kote and 11 in Periyapatna.
The rejected 47 nomination papers (22 candidates) include 1 filed in Periyapatna, 9 in Hunsur, 3 in H.D. Kote, 11 in Chamundeshwari, 8 in KR, 5 in Chamaraja, 6 in NR and 4 in Varuna Assembly Constituencies.
The nomination papers of candidates of all the prominent parties, including that of Congress, BJP, JD(S), AAP, BSP etc., have been found to be in order. Of the 172 candidates, 159 are men and 13 women candidates.
In Mandya, out of the 181 nomination papers filed for 7 Assembly Constituencies of the district, 170 are found to be in order, while 11 were rejected.
In Kodagu, out of the 32 nomination papers filed for 2 Assembly Constituencies of the district, 30 were found to be in order, while 2 were rejected.
In Chamarajanagar, out of the total 76 nomination papers filed for 4 Assembly segments of the district, 69 were found to be in order, while 7 papers were rejected.
The last date for withdrawal of nomination papers is Apr.24 and the polling will take place on May 10. The counting of votes of all the 224 Assembly segments of the State will be taken up on May 13.
