Mysuru – The 4th Additional Civil Judge’s Court today attached the movable properties of Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) for failing to pay compensation to an aggrieved farmer.
The MUDA, in 1997, had acquired 2.24 acres land from farmer Kariyappa at Uttanahalli. Kariyappa, unhappy with the compensation, moved the Court.
On Mar. 25, 2017, 23 years later, the Court ordered MUDA to pay Kariyappa a compensation of Rs. 1.03 crore.
But the MUDA did not follow the Court order and with no other option, Kariyappa approached the Court again. And this moring, Yogesh, Kariyappa’s Advocate, armed with the attachment order, arrived at MUDA office and attached its tables and chairs with the help of Court Amins.
Special Land Acquisition Officer (SLAO) Chandramma, who is in charge of acquiring land and compensating land owners, was not present when the properties were being attached.
The personnel present at the MUDA office, who were caught unawares, stood in shock as their chairs and tables were taken away.
