Maintaining that there was nothing special in the State Budget, former Minister and BJP candidate for Nanjangud by-poll V. Sreenivasa Prasad said that the Budget was only a gimmick to fool the people ahead of Nanjangud and Gundlupet by-elections.
Speaking to SOM at his residence in Jayalakshmipuram here this morning, Sreenivasa Prasad said that CM Siddharamaiah instead of announcing farm loan waiver, had indulged in petty gimmick by announcing several populist sops, which will remain only on paper.
Pointing out that there were no plans for reviving the agriculture sector, which is reeling under drought and crop loss, Prasad said that Siddharamaiah was dreaming about winning the by-poll by making false promises.
Replying to a question on reports of several Congress Ministers being deployed for by-poll campaign, Prasad said that he was not scared of any strategy of the CM.
Asserting that he has the people’s support and Siddharamaiah’s efforts to woo the electorate would fail, the former Revenue Minister said he was sure of winning the Nanjangud by-poll.
Alleging that Siddharamaiah had only hijacked former CM Jagadish Shettar’s plans of announcing new taluks, Prasad said that the announcement only showed the CM’s hypocrisy as Siddharamaiah as Opposition Leader then, had opposed the move.
Continuing his attack on the CM, he said that Siddharamaiah had ignored forming of sub-divisions in districts such as Chamarajanagar, Davanagere and Gadag, besides failing to improve the infrastructure in these districts, which were created years ago.
