Mysuru: Deputy Commissioner (DC) D. Randeep has said that the Government has issued notification on implementing Karnataka Raitha Suraksha-Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (2017) in the State.
In respect of Mysuru district, the notification said that a total of 25 crops, including 17 food grains and oil seeds, two commercial crops and six vegetables are covered under the scheme.
The indemnity ceiling for irrigation crops has been stipulated at 90 percent and that for rain-dependant crops at 80 percent, he said and added that the Government will pay up 50 percent of the difference amount in the premium of commercial insurance and the premium that the farmers have to pay.
Those farmers who grow the listed crops and have not availed farm loans too can become part of the scheme, the DC said.
The last date for seeking coverage under the scheme has been stipulated differently for different crops.
The farmers can visit their Bank, Hobli Raitha Samparka Kendras, Gram Panchayat, Village Accountant or Agriculture and Horticulture Officers for more information, the DC further said.
