Mysuru: Maintaining that Nuclear Energy Production is vital for the country to emerge as a strong nation in all fronts, BARC Engineer Madhusudhan Ojha has said that Nuclear Energy will also help save the environment.
He was delivering a talk on ‘Role of Nuclear Energy for Sustainable Development’ organised by the Mysuru Local Centre of the Institution of Engineers-India (IEI), in association with the Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ISHRAE), at the Institution premises on JLB Road here on Wednesday.
Pointing out that India has seven Nuclear Power Plants producing 6,780 Mega Watt of power and Nuclear Reactors that can generate 30,29,291 Giga Watt of power, Ojha said that the manufacture of more Reactors is underway.
Expressing concern over depleting green cover in the country, he said that Nuclear Energy production is also inevitable to save our vanishing forests.
Stating that the Railways is fast tracking electrification of railway tracks, Ojha said that conventional energy production is not enough to meet this goal and Nuclear Energy alone can help in realising the vision of the Railways.
Emphasising on the need for enhancing Nuclear Energy production step by step, he also underlined the need for reducing production costs.
IEI Mysuru Chairman Dr. R. Suresh and Hon. Secretary D.K. Dinesh Kumar, ISHRAE President T.A. Prabhakar and Secretary Anil Kumar and others were present during the occasion.
