Mysore/Mysuru: International Nurses Day was celebrated under the joint aegis of JSS Hospital, JSS College of Nursing and JSS School of Nursing at Sri Rajendra Auditorium of the hospital in the city recently.
Guest of honour Dr. C.P. Madhu, Medical Superintendent of the hospital said that “The job of nurses hold more responsibility, as they have to take care of the patients by giving them medicines in time. They devote more time for work at the hospital, without even having food in time.”
Chief guest Lt. Col. (Retd) K.S. Suma, who is also the General Manager, Nursing, Apollo Hospital, Bengaluru described the job of nurses as vital among all others, as they play a key role after doctors in treating the patients.
Special invitee Sudha Mruthyunjayappa, Managing Trustee of Dr.C.N. Mruthyunjayappa Trust, Mysuru said “Every year International Nurses Day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale on May 12. Everybody should contribute for the conservation of environment by planting a sapling.”
Presiding over the event, Director of Medical Education, JSS Mahavidyapetha, R. Mahesh said “The hospital has 59 percent of nursing staff, who form the backbone of the set up. They deserve appreciation for their humanitarian touch in job.”
Six nurses of JSS Hospital were honoured with a Certificate of Appreciation and cash by Dr. C.N. Mruthyunjayappa Trust, while JSS Hospital honoured them with a Certificate of Appreciation and silver coin.
Head of Nursing Services, Janet Mathias, Principal, JSS Nursing College, Ashwathy Devi, Principal, JSS School of Nursing, Renukadevi, staff and students of JSS Hospital and the college were present.
