Occupants have a lucky escape as Ambulance catches fire

Nanjangud: The occupants of an ‘108’ ambulance, including the patient, had a providential escape when the vehicle caught fire all of a sudden near Badanavalu in the taluk yesterday.

The 108 ambulance attached to Chamarajanagar District Hospital was traveling towards Mysuru, carrying a patient in serious condition from Chamarajanagar Hospital to a private hospital in Mysuru, when fire erupted from the engine of the vehicle near Badanavalu. Soon, the driver Mahesh stopped the vehicle and pulled out the patient in time with the help of Nurse Murthy, who was accompanying the patient. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

The ambulance was reduced to ashes by the time fire tenders arrived at the spot, it is learnt.
