Mysore/Mysuru: An Assistant Director of Social Welfare Department has been suspended on charges of harassing a girl student who had complained about lack of water in the hostel which she stayed.
M.K. Megha, who was serving as the Assistant Director of Mysuru taluk in the Social Welfare Department, is the one who has been suspended pending departmental enquiry.
A girl student from SC Community, who is an inmate of Post-Matric Girl Students Hostel at Bogadi, had complained to Megha urging her to address the water problem issue at the hostel. But Megha is alleged to have harassed the girl and also threatened her for complaining, following which a complaint was lodged at Saraswathipuram Police Station. But Megha, in an alleged display of arrogance, had failed to attend enquiry by senior officials, following which another complaint was lodged against her at Jayalakshmipuram Police Station.
Additional Directors (Administration and Development) of Social Welfare Department, who conducted a joint probe into the charges against M.K. Megha, submitted a report holding Megha prima facie guilty, following which the Commissioner of Social Welfare Department Dr. Ravikumar Surpur ordered her suspension pending departmental enquiry.
Megha has also been asked not to leave the Headquarters (Mysuru taluk) without permission of the higher authorities during the course of enquiry.
