Okkuta for phased introduction of English medium

Mysuru: Seeking scientific and phased introduction of English medium in Government Primary Schools, Zilla Kayaka Samajagala Okkoota staged a demonstration in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s bust opposite the city Law Courts complex recently.

Addressing the protestors, the Vedike President K.C. Puttasiddashetty, also a former MLC, urged the Government for a thorough study on the ways of introducing English medium in Government Schools.

Batting for three-phase introduction, he said that in the first phase, conversion of Anganawadi’s into Pre-Primary Schools where children are tutored on English listening, reading and writing and speaking – second phase covering first to fifth standards, where English must be thought as a language and third phase covering Sixth to Twelfth standards – where all subjects are taught in English medium in full scale.

He also urged the Government to appropriately train teachers in English before introduction of                       the Scheme.
