Mandya: A tender coconut vendor has been stabbed over old rivalry at Dodda Arasinakere village in Maddur taluk on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Shivu (21) of Chikkamarigowdanadoddi village.
It is alleged that Sridhar of Dodda Arasinakere village has murdered Shivu.
Shivu, after closing his business for the day, was returning home when Sridhar allegedly stabbed him near Dodda Arasinakere village and fled from the spot. Shivu, who was profusely bleeding and lying on the road, was admitted to a hospital at Bharatinagar, where he succumbed to injuries.
It is learnt that on Sunday too, during the Aathmalingeshwara Rathotsava, Sridhar and Shivu reportedly fought over petty reasons and in a bid to take revenge, Sridhar is said to have picked up a fight on Monday night and stabbed Shivu.
K.M. Doddi Police, who have registered a case are investigating.
