This is with reference to the article on Lansdowne Building (SOM dated Aug.13). To my knowledge, shortly after the tragedy, structural expert Dr. C. S. Vishwanath (since deceased) of Torsteel Foundation, Bengaluru, was invited to study the building and offer his expert advice. What happened to his Report is not known.
On the other hand, PWD took his advice to strengthen the beams and columns of OPD Block of K.R. Hospital which had developed cracks. It is unfortunate that prompt action was not taken at the right time.
