The Railway Malayali Samithi, Mysuru, is an association for Railway employees and their families in Mysuru. Established in 1989, it is one of the oldest Malayali Associations in the region. The Samithi with over 300 members actively engages in social, cultural, welfare, and charity activities, aiming to support the underprivileged and marginalised. Each year, the Samithi organises a gathering for all family members to enjoy various cultural programmes alongside a traditional Kerala feast as part of Onam celebrations. This year’s events commenced on August 25, 2024, with the final activities scheduled for today and tomorrow (Oct. 26 and 27).
A range of competitions, including drawing contests and sports events, have been conducted for members and their families. On Oct. 26, cultural programmes will begin at 4 pm, which will be inaugurated by Indira Nair, a renowned theatre and cinema actress. The Pookalam competition will take place from 9 am onwards on Oct. 27.
A traditional Kerala lunch, known as ‘Sadya,’ will be served starting at 12 noon, followed by a meeting and prize distribution. Awards will be presented to students who excelled in the 10th grade and Plus Two (both CBSE and State syllabus).
