K.R. Pet: A two-wheeler pillion rider was killed on the spot while the rider sustained serious injuries when a speeding Bolero vehicle hit the bike they were riding on Jalasur-Bengaluru Highway yesterday.
While the deceased has been identified as Ramesh (63), son of late Chikkegowda of Valageremenasa village in the taluk, the seriously injured is Jayaram, who is undergoing treatment at K.R. Hospital in Mysuru.
The duo, who took part in the Tandridevi puja rituals at the village, was returning home after taking prasada when a speeding Bolero, which came from Santhebachahalli village side rammed into the bike killing Ramesh on the spot and seriously injuring Jayaram.
Jayaram was rushed to the Government Hospital in the town where he was provided first-aid and was later shifted to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru, where he is said to be in a critical State.
Deceased Ramesh leaves behind his wife Gowramma, one son, one daughter and a host of relatives and friends.
K.R. Pet Town Inspector Suma Rani and staff visited the spot. The Police have taken the Bolero driver into custody besides seizing the vehicle. Based on the complaint from Gowramma, Police have registered a case and have initiated further action.
