Hunsur: One person was killed on the spot while another sustained serious injuries when a KSRTC bus rammed into the bike on which the two were riding near Halegere in Hunsur yesterday afternoon.
While the deceased has been identified as Manjunath of Mogalli village in Periyapatna taluk, the seriously injured person has been identified as Ravikumar.
The CCTV footage shows that the speeding KSRTC bus (KA-09 F-4768), coming towards Mysuru, in order to avoid hitting a two-wheeler going in front, veered towards the right side and hit the two-wheeler coming from the opposite direction.
The impact was so severe that the rider and the pillion were flung to a distance resulting in the rider being killed on the spot and the seriously injured Ravikumar has been admitted to a private hospital in Mysuru.
Meanwhile, sources at the private hospital in Mysuru said that Ravikumar has suffered head injuries, fractures to his right leg thighbone and knee and his right upper limb totally paralysed.
Hunsur Town SI Shanmugam, who rushed to the spot, conducted mahazar besides registering a case. The Police have taken the KSRTC bus driver into their custody, it is learnt.
