One killed, three others injured in group clash at Nanjangud

Nanjangud: One person was killed and three others sustained injuries in a clash between two groups over a trivial issue at Madralli village in Nanjangud taluk yesterday night.

Mahadeva (43), of Madralli  who worked as a labourer is the deceased, while the injured have been identified as Lingaiah, a waterman with the local Gram Panchayat, Hrithik Roshan and Chandan.

Mahadeva was talking to Lingaiah at his village at about 8.30 pm on Saturday night, when a rival group led by Mahadevaswamy of the same village, argued with him over an old issue and attacked him with lethal weapons, killing him on the spot and inflicting injuries on Lingaiah, Hrithik Roshan and Chandan who came to his rescue. While Lingaiah was rushed to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru, the other two injured are being treated at Nanjangud Hospital. 

The accused who have been named as Mahadevaswamy, Nanjundaswamy and Soma, have gone absconding, it is learnt. Tight Police security has been provided at the village following the incident. 

Additional SP Shivakumar, Dy.SP Prabhkar Rao Shinde, Nanjangud CPI Lakshmikant Talwar and other Police personnel visited the spot. Kavalande Police have registered a case in this regard and are                                         investigating.
