Online fraud: Teacher, doctor lose over Rs. 48 lakh

Mysuru: There seems to be no end to people losing their hard earned money to online fraudsters despite Police asking the public to be cautious before considering any offer of investment.

In separate cases, three persons including a teacher and a doctor have lost a total of Rs. 55.24 lakh to online fraudsters in city.

In the first case, a teacher, who joined a WhatsApp group pertaining to online investment has lost his money. After joining the group, a man, who identified himself as the Group’s assistant Narayan Jindal, made the teacher download a particular mobile phone app, lured him by saying that he would get high returns to his investment, got Rs. 25.35 lakh invested by the teacher in phases and cheated him.

In the second case, a doctor, who joined a stock market investment group on WhatsApp, received a call from one Abhishek Chopra and his assistant, asked the doctor to download LSV Management App on his mobile phone and made the doctor invest Rs. 23.21 lakh, thus cheating him.

In the third case, a resident of Vijayanagar 4th Stage, who fell prey to the fraudsters, has lost Rs. 6.68 lakh. City’s CEN Police, who have registered a case, are investigating.
