Online fraud: Three cheated of over Rs. 12 lakh in city

Mysore/Mysuru: In separate cases, three persons have been cheated of over Rs. 12,32,350 by online fraudsters in city.

In the first case, a lady lecturer has been cheated of Rs. 60,150 by a miscreant on the pretext of marrying her.

The lady lecturer, who has been cheated is 31-year-old Kavya Gurikar, a resident of Vijayanagar 2nd Stage in city.

Kavya had registered her name in a matrimonial website and the miscreant, who approached her, told that he was interested to marry her and also got Rs. 60,150 transferred from her for donation to orphanage, performing puja and homa, thus cheating her.

In the second case, fraudsters, who called 41-year-old Krishina C. Nanda, a resident of J.P. Nagar 2nd Stage, on Nanda’s mobile phone lured the person to invest money in their company by promising to double the money in 30 days, got Rs. 8.80 lakh transferred, thus cheating Nanda.

In the third case, a conman, who called 37-year-old A. Ashwini, a resident of Dattagalli, said that he would get her a job in Amazon Pro company, got Rs. 2,92,200 transferred from her and has cheated Ashwini.

All the three cases have been registered at City’s CEN Police Station.
