Online fraud: Three cheated of over Rs. 7 lakh in city

Mysore/Mysuru: In separate cases, online fraudsters have cheated three Mysureans of over Rs. 7 lakh after promising them part-time jobs with a lucrative commission.

In the first case, online fraudsters, who contacted 24-year-old Ume Saniya on her WhatsApp from mobile number 97942-13963, lured her by offering a good commission for liking reels and got Rs. 81,000 transferred from her account, thus cheating her.

In the second case, 28-year-old Rajadorai of Vijayanagar 4th Stage received a message on his Telegram App regarding opening for part time work. The fraudsters then lured him by offering a better commission for promoting an airline booking website.

To make him believe, the fraudsters deposited Rs. 1,100 to Rajadorai’s account as commission, following which he invested Rs. 10,000 and received Rs. 2,000 as bonus and Rs. 5,100 as commission. Later, the fraudsters got a total of Rs. 4,96,854 transferred from Rajadorai in phases and have cheated him.

In the third case, 25-year-old H.R. Sushma, a resident of Siddalingeshwara Layout in J.P. Nagar 1st Stage, received a message on her WhatsApp from mobile number 98370-94668, which stated that she would be paid commission for completing prepaid task. Sushma then transferred Rs. 1,000 and completed the task for which she was paid Rs. 1,300 commission. Later, the fraudsters got Rs. 1.18 lakh transferred from Sushma, thus cheating her. City’s CEN Police Station has registered all the cases.
