Mysore/Mysuru: In separate cases, online fraudsters, who lured two persons with high commission for giving good ratings to hotels, have cheated them to the tune of Rs. 4,28,750 in city.
In the first case, 37-year-old Nayeem Ahmed, who received a message on his WhatsApp about part time job, responded to the message following which the fraudsters added him to a group on Telegram App and created a client ID for Nayeem.
Nayeem was then told to give good rating to hotels with a promise of giving high commission and Rs. 150 was deposited to the account of Nayeem as commission for his first rating. Later, the fraudsters got a total of Rs. 2,53,750 transferred from Nayeem in phases, thus cheating him.
In the second case, 40-year-old Abdul Shariff of Udayagiri received a message about availability of part time jobs on his WhatsApp number and the fraudsters lured him with good commission for giving ratings to hotels.
To make him believe, the fraudsters deposited Rs. 50 as commission to Abdul’s account and later got Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 3,000 transferred from him. Abdul, later transferred Rs. 1,71,000 in phases and when he (Abdul) asked for his money and commission, the fraudsters told him to transfer Rs. 6,30,000 to get his money and commission, thus cheating him.
Both the cases have been registered at city’s CEN Police Station.
