Online frauds: Women cheated to the tune of Rs. 2.15 lakh

Mysore/Mysuru: In separate cases pertaining to online frauds, three women have been cheated of a total sum of  Rs. 2,15,634 in city.

In the first case, a 34-year-old woman, who received a message on her phone asking her to update her Aadhaar number to her bank mobile app, has lost Rs. 24,987 to fraudsters. The woman, who lost her money, is K.M. Nandini, a resident of Giriyabovipalya in city.

In the second case, a girl, who was lured into investing money by a person, whom she knew on Instagram, who had offered double the money she had invested, has lost a total sum of Rs. 73,000. The girl’s mother H. Bhagyalakshmi, a resident of Siddarthanagar, has lodged a complaint.

In the third case, miscreants have cheated a 28-year-old woman of Rs. 1,17,647 in the guise of providing her Work From Home job. The woman, who was cheated, is Prathika Gowda, a resident of Vijayanagar 3rd    Stage in city. Prathika, who saw an advertisement on Facebook pertaining to Work From Home job, logged in to the website as instructed by the miscreants and as soon as he logged in and uploaded certain details, a total of Rs. 1,17,647 was transferred from her bank account.

All the cases have been registered at City’s CEN Police Station.
