Online music lessons at Ganabharathi

Mysore/Mysuru: Corona has almost paralysed most of the sectors of the society. Culture is no exception. Music has suffered a lot. Musical performances have come to standstill. But many alternative ways are explored for artistic expression. Online programmes using platforms like Facebook and YouTube are tried. Ganabharathi, from the very beginning of the onslaught of the pandemic, took to online programmes. This has provided many an opportunity for the artistes to perform. Ganabharathi has also tried to help artistes financially.

Another area, which has suffered is music teaching. In order to address this issue, Ganabharathi has started online music classes.

It will be streamed every Monday at 9 am. Leading musicians teach one composition every week. This is available in Ganabharathi Facebook page and also YouTube.

Script of the composition taught, is available on the Ganabharathi website. Leading musicians like Vidushi/ Vidwan R.N. Sreelatha, Koviladi R. Kala, R.N. Prashanth, Bellary Raghavendra, G.S. Rajalakshmi and Vasudha Keshav have participated in the programme with their students.

On Sept. 21, Vidushi Koviladi R. Kala will be teaching a composition of Mysore Vasudevachar Neranammiti in the Raga Chakravaka. This is twelfth in the series.
