Mysore/Mysuru: With incessant rains causing floods and landslides across the State, the Natural Disaster Management Centre in ATI (Administrative Training Institute) here has started online training sessions for Gram Panchayat PDOs and other staff of the State.
During the training, the PDOs were advised to form Committees involving local people’s representatives, Policemen, School teachers, Health Officials and Anganawadi workers for better handling of floods and such other natural calamities at the village-level. The PDOs were also trained on preventing the spread of vector-borne diseases and the immediate relief measures to be taken in case of floods, landslides, destruction of houses, crop loss and such other losses.
On Aug.6, Group A and B officials from Ramanagara District were given a presentation on the role of the media in Disaster Management, Natural Disaster Management Act-2005, Vector-borne Diseases Control Act-1897 and other related Acts, according to sources.
The Centre Faculty G.R. Paramesh said that GP officials and staff are being trained online at the centre for the past few days. Personnel from one District are trained in a day depending upon the number of personnel attending the training programme, he added.
