Operation Safe Ride to commence from Jan. 6

Mysuru:  The Mysuru City Traffic Police have given motorists (two-wheeler riders and pillion riders) time till Jan. 5 to purchase new helmets with ISI mark for their safety as many riders were still wearing substandard helmets which do not comply with safety standards though enough awareness was created by the Police.

The city Police (both Civil and Traffic) who conducted the operation against non-ISI mark helmets on Jan. 2 had seized 15,501 non-ISI helmets from two-wheeler riders following which, motorists began to throng automobile shops to buy new helmets with ISI mark.

As motorists began to rush to automobile shops to buy ISI mark helmets, there were complaints that some shops began to sell ISI mark helmets for more price. The Police have asked the public to inform them if they come across such incidents.

‘Operation Safe Ride’ will commence from Jan. 6,  according to a press release from City Police Commissioner Dr. A. Subrahmanyeswara Rao, who has requested the public to co-operate with them in buying quality helmets for their safety.
