Opposing toll collection, KRRS to stage protest on Dec.14

Mysuru: Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) and Hasiru Sene will stage a protest near the Toll Plaza at KN Hundi on Mysuru- Nanjangud Road on Dec.14 at 11 am to oppose the collection of toll from vehicles plying on the road.

Disclosing this at a press meet at Patrakarthara Bhavan here on Tuesday, KRRS leader P. Nanjundaswamy opined that the development work on the Highway has not been completed and added that service roads too have not been formed. He hence claimed that the toll collection from motorists is illegal. He said that as per rule any Toll Plaza should not detain a vehicle for more than three minutes and pointed out that vehicles are being detained for 15 to 20 minutes at the toll gate which increases during weekends terribly inconveniencing the tourists in particular.

KRRS District Convenor Nanjegowda claimed that ‘FASTag’ system introduced by the Central Government is unscientific. He contended that the public is already burdened by over 15 to 20 types of taxes including GST coupled with Road Tax. Hence he urged immediate withdrawal of toll collection on Highways.

KRRS District President Vidyasagar, office-bearers Manjesh Gowda, Himmavu Raghu and others were present at the press meet.
