Unseeded Tamil Nadu lad Suresh Dakshineshwar and second seeded Jatin Dahiya from Delhi set up a title clash in the men’s singles on the penultimate day of the Mysuru Open men’s tennis championship, conducted jointly by Orange Sportz and Mysore Tennis Club here on Thursday.
In the first semi-final, Suresh Dakshineshwar (TN), playing some attacking tennis on both the flanks shocked sixth seeded Rishi Reddy from Karnataka 6-4, 6-4 and sailed into the final and set up a title clash with second seed Jatin Dahiya.
In the other semi-final, second seeded Jatin Dahiya, who qualified for the tournament proper, playing a consistent baseline game, scored a well earned win over fifth seeded Karnataka lad B.R. Nikshep 7-5, 6-2 in a keenly contested tie which lasted for one hour and ten minutes.
Suresh, Yash clinch men’s doubles title: Suresh is in line for a double, as later in the day, teaming up with Yash Yadav (Kar) he clinched the men’s doubles title beating Guhan Rajan (TN) & Ominder Baisoya (HP) 6-2, 6-2 in the final.
